You can comfortably exercise your brain and develop its sense of space estimation or visuospatial ability in a party. As you enter a room with some people in it, try to guess the number of people present on your right side and left side. You can also try to determine the distribution of chairs, tables, objects across the room. Find out which side of the room has more objects.

Mental training encompasses developing your brain on all aspects, including visuospatial ability. Let us find out more about it.

Visuospatial ability is linked to the capability of taking a correct estimate of distances, volumes and areas. Basically it implies the fineness in your estimation of all such proportions and how they are scattered in space. There are various exercises to improve this visuospatial capability in a person. You can do them everyday easily.

These mental workouts can also be stress-relieving after a long day’s work. You can observe some objects like pens or pencils and attempt at guessing their length and thickness.

Good Mental Training for Your Ears

Whenever you receive a call, try to recognize the caller before he or she tells her name. Since almost everybody uses a cell phone these days, you know who has called beforehand by looking at the phone’s screen. So try not to look at the number and start talking.

You can also benefit by memorizing the phone numbers of everybody who called you in a single day. This exercise can be repeated on weekends where you can make a list of callers and their phone numbers together. This will reduce your dependency on your mobile phone and make you smarter!

Helpful Hints for Mental Coaching

When you wish to succeed in your sport, mental coaching is a must. Try and create a mental picture of the perfect shot that you watch on television or in a real tournament. Next you have to recall and analyze it frequently in your mind so that it fits in your brain.

Another important thing to do is to try and utilize all the five senses while doing this. Attempt to “feel” the strike or shot as if you are really playing the game. When you “hear” the sound of the golf club or tennis racket hitting the ball, you can understand it better.

Mental Training for Your Kids

This is a mental training workout your kids will love. This exercise is especially useful for improving the sense of smell and touch in kids. It can be played in a group as well as individually.

Collect different materials like chalk, jute cloth, some eatables, food items like sugar/ pulses/ grains in different bowls. Then ask the kids to close their eyes and sit in a circle. Pass a bowl to each kid and let him find out what is kept in it using his sense of smell and taste. This way their brain works better and also develops recognition skills.
